Annual Fundraiser
29 January 2015
Dear Parent/Carer
Annual Fundraising – Friday 20 February
Every year we have a whole school annual fundraiser to raise sufficient money for school funds to sustain us through the year.
We use the money raised to benefit all of our children by paying for school visits, parties, materials for costumes, visiting performers and many other purposes.
Every year we have a very generous response from all of our parents and families to our Annual Fundraiser.
This year the fundraiser will be a “Jammie Jog” in Kelvingrove Park on 20 February. All children will be invited to run round an agreed route in the park in their pyjamas or a onsie (these would be worn on top of their clothes given the time of year) and will then participate in an assault course in school.
In addition to raising money for our own purposes we also frequently undertake collections for charities.
One of our teachers, Sean Rankine, will be participating in “Le Marathon des Sables” in Morocco during the holidays this April. This will involve him running 251 km (156 miles), the equivalent of six regular marathons, in six days with a backpack containing all of his food and clothing. He will be given a tent to sleep in every night.
Sean is running in support of CHAS – Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and hopes to raise £5000. Well done Sean! Some information on the work of CHAS is attached to this letter.
As a school we have used the services of CHAS to support both some of our families and staff. We feel there is a natural link between what Sean is doing in Morocco in April in up to 40°C and what we will be doing in Kelvingrove Park in February in what will definitely be less that 40°C!
Therefore we would like to promote our Jammie Jog as a double fundraiser on 20 February for the school and CHAS and we would like to pledge a significant contribution to CHAS (the final figure will be announced after the event). We would also like to give you the link of https://www.justgiving.com/Sean-Rankine1/ in case you would like to make your own individual contribution.
In PE over the next few weeks the teachers will be focusing in warm ups, stretching and building stamina in preparation for the Jammie Jog! More details of the event in the park will follow but it is scheduled to take place in the morning of 20 February.
Can I thank you all for your support and generosity. We look forward to another successful event.
A sponsor sheet accompanies this letter and we are very grateful for your support.
Best Wishes
