Update on Gala Preparations.

Hillhead Primary Parent Council are involved in the Gibson Street Gala this year which takes place on Sunday 17th June between 12noon and 6pm. It will be a brilliant day out with loads to do for kids of all ages and entertainment for the grown ups too!

The @Hillhead Primary Kidzone will have a ‘Cyber Cafe’ and Pamper Zone offering hair and nail art in the gym/assembly hall, and entertainment particularly suitable for pre-school to 7 year olds in the dinner hall (although all of the family is welcome of course!) There are also a lot of other activities for school age children in the rest of the Kidzone areas outside of the school – find out more at

We will be organising craft activities, a ball pool, a drama performance from the after school drama club, a story teller and Pyjama Drama doing pre-school drama sessions throughout the day. We will also be running some short tours of the school to allow the local community to have a look around!

We are looking for volunteers to help in the following areas:

  • Setting up before the event
  • Organising some decorations for the hall
  • Running a game or craft activity for a few hours
  • Face painters (we also need some face painters to help on Saturday 9th June 1-5pm at the High School Gala)
  • Helping with tours of the school from 2-4pm
  • Street performance, being “medieval” characters
  • Help with costumes, anyone out there who is handy with a sewing machine? Or who happens to have a suit of armour at the back of their wardrobe, that sort of thing?
  • General helping out.

We also need some donations of material for crafts – larger pieces of fabric to make capes and smaller pieces of light material for wimpole hats! These can be handed in at the school office.

If anyone is interested in helping out then could you please let Julia or Barrie know as soon as possible. This is a big event so I think it will be fun but it will probably be very busy. Any assistance will be gratefully received!
