Dear Parent/Carer

 October Newsletter

I hope you all had a very enjoyable October Break.  We should now have nine unbroken weeks until 20 December!

 Onesie Day/Pyjama Day

Many thanks for your support and generosity towards our fund raising event just prior to the October Holiday.  The children and staff responded to this fundraiser for the Hospice Appeal really well and there were a range of fantastic outfits

So far we have collected just over £760.  If you would like to make a contribution please do so soon as we will be sending our cheque off shortly.

 Well done and thank you!

 Hallowe’en

Hallowe’en is fast approaching.  Children are invited to dress up for Hallowe’en next Thursday 31 October – and teachers will provide Hallowe’en activities on the Thursday afternoon.

The children in P1-P3 will have a fancy dress parade and all classes will have dookin’ for apples (the school will provide the apples).  Children should not bring in any food.

 Eid al-Adha

We hope that all of our children and families who celebrated Eid during the October Break had a very happy time.

 Diwali

Diwali will take place on Sunday 3November.  A very Happy Diwali to all of our children and families who celebrate this festival.

Our children will be learning about Rangoli patterns and will be drawing patterns with chalk in our playgrounds to celebrate Diwali in the week following Diwali.

Triathon

We are in the early stages of organising our annual school fundraiser.  This year we are having a Triathon Challenge.  Three events are involved – a run in the park round an identified circuit; an obstacle course set up in the school and a small set of communal exercises set to music (this will take place in the courtyard weather permitting).

All children will participate in the Triathon challenge and be invited to seek sponsorship.  All children who complete the challenge will receive a certificate.

The date for the Triathon is Friday 29 November.  We have been/will be in contact with Glasgow Community Safety Services, the Community Police and Kelvingrove Park to organise the run in the park but would really like to encourage the children and to help escort them to and from the park.

The purpose of the event is to raise (significant amounts of) money for our school funds so that we can continue to provide the level of trips, visits and visitors for the children that we do.

As you know all trips, apart from the Summer Trips, are free and we need to replenish our funds for this session.

We will be issuing more details, and sponsorship forms, in the near future.

Enrolment Week

Glasgow City Council has brought forward the dates for enrolment and registration for new entrants.  Enrolment week this session is now week beginning 11 November.

We will be writing separately about this but our two enrolment sessions will be:

Monday 11 November 1:30-3pm

and

Wednesday 13 November 9:30-11:30am

I think that is all.
Thank you for your continuing cooperation.

Best Wishes
Francis Donaghy
