April Newsletter and Calendar of Events
24 April 2013
Dear Parent/Carer
April Newsletter
We hope you all enjoyed your holidays even though we are still waiting for Spring to arrive!
We have a very busy term ahead of us and accompanying this letter is a calendar of key events for parents.
P7 Dalguise Trip
Our P7 came back from their holidays last Monday and almost immediately left for a 4 night stay at Dalguise for their residential experience. They had a wonderful time and participated in a range of activities including raft building, canoeing, zip wire, giant swing, climbing and much more.
It was a very worthwhile experience for all and we have already made a provisional booking for next year’s P7 at a new Outdoor Centre. Details to follow!

The Book Club Mums are a small group of very resourceful parents who set up our Book Club last session and who have organised some exciting activities for this term. These activities include:-
A workshop and visit for P6 children to examine the publication of the Grimm Brothers’ collection of fairy tales (it is the 200th anniversary)
Two author visits in early June. One will be for some of our P1-P3 children and the other will be for some P4 and P5 children.
Our sincere thanks to Sylvia, Gordana and Evelyn!
Letter from Maureen McKenna, Executive Director of Education
Please find attached a letter from Maureen McKenna seeking your views on aligning in service days with forthcoming elections. You can either respond online or via a tear off slip.
School Trips
All school trips have been confirmed. Please pay for your child’s trip as soon as possible.
P1 Intake for Next Session
Glasgow City Council has confirmed we will have four P1 classes with the result every classroom in the school will be occupied. Separate letters regarding P1 induction meetings will follow.
In line with Council Policy we need to reduce our 5 P1 classes to 4 classes of 30 in P2. We will correspond directly with our P2 parents on this matter.
Football News
Congratulations to our P5 and P6s who played in a match against Hyndland Primary. Hillhead won 7-2 and by all accounts everyone played very well both individually and as a team. Well done!
I think that is all.
Best Wishes
