Parking Pledge

Posted on Oct 8, 2018 in Latest News | No Comments

The roads around our school face congestion on a daily basis, especially at drop off and pick up times. This makes it dangerous for pupils and parents travelling to school on foot. In our most recent Hands Up Scotland Survey, approximately 450 children indicated that they walk, scoot or cycle to our school on a daily basis. This is a very healthy statistic which represents 70% of our children.

We are therefore launching the Hillhead Primary Parking Pledge to further protect our children. We have adapted the pledge to reflect our school’s specific circumstances with reference to the use of Otago Street and Westbank Quadrant for pick up and drop offs as well as the use of Resident Parking Bays by non-permit holders. This causes undue congestion at one of the busiest school entrance/exit points on a daily basis.

We are looking for all our families whether they travel to school by car or not to read the Parking Pledge and then sign the tear off slip on the next page. All families returning the slip will receive a Parking Pledge car sticker to display in their vehicle.

We hope that all families understand the importance of this initiative and will support the school in making the roads around our school safer and less congested for all of our children and continue to show respect to the wider community.

Thank you for your support in making this initiative successful.

Kindest regards
